                                          GAS FACILITIES ENHANCEMENT PROJECT A

 

 

 

Scope: The Gas Facilities Enhancement Project (GFEP) updated existing Gas Asset (Mains, Services and Valves) data in client’s asset management system (SAP), linking the SAP Functional Location (FLOC) and Equipment ID to the Gas GIS mapping model.

 

Objective: This project was designed to provide the proper tax base of assets and accurate SAP equipment records for Fixed Asset, Engineering and Operation department needs.

 

Results:

  • Verified, updated and created GIS and SAP records by analyzing field data including

    As-Builts and service orders.  Project completed on schedule with 98% accuracy.

  • Analyzed over 1,715 raster image (paper) maps.

  • Updated and created 73,881 SAP records. 

  • Populated GIS data set with corresponding SAP FLOC and Equipment ID. 

  • Delivered service and main information to enable accuracy in designs, maintenance inspections and reporting to governing agencies.

      SAP DATA CONVERSION & DATA CLEANSING PROJECT

 

 

 

Client had undergone a system migration, which resulted in inaccurate data. Records were corrected in the new system format and missing information was added.  Historical hard copy records were validated and converted manually for data that was not transferred during migration or hadn’t existed in the previous system.

  • Phase 1:  Converted 28,000+ Manhole/Handhole detail sheets from electronic and paper files into the SAP database. Preliminary steps involved analyzing and data scrubbing existing Functional locations (FLOCS) and equipment records. New records were then created for underground structures, devices, and conductors.

  • Phase 2:  Building on records developed in Phase 1, converted 20,000 conduit detail sheets from both electronic and paper files into SAP database. Conduit/duct equipment records were linked to their corresponding FLOCS created in phase 1. 

  • Phase 3:  14,000 Isolated Sheets (Maps) of Underground Residential Developments and Overhead Poles with isolated conductors were converted from paper maps into the SAP database. FLOCS and equipment records were created for underground and overhead structures, devices, conductors and conduits/ducts.

                                                                MAPPING PROJECTS

 

 

  • Convert Electric As-Builts for transmission and distribution projects into SmartMap from SAP work order transactions.

  • Convert Gas As-Builts for transmission and distribution projects to update raster images.

  • Converted 174 circuits (4 kV & 11 kV) from paper Primary Maps to electronic files in AutoCAD and delivered in .pdf files.     

  • On-going circuit map maintenance.

                   GIS GAS CONVERSION PROJECT

 

 

 

Scope:  The Gas Conversion Project updated existing GIS data and added missing data to create a single operational mapping system for the client’s companies through the transfer of all current GTX gas mapping data into the ArcFM GIS system.  Existing data was verified and amended in ArcFM by analyzing and converting TIFF/Raster images to a GIS format. 

 

Objective:  Verify GIS location of current and future mains, services and features resulting in improved accuracy, including accurate linking of SAP customer service records to the correct main.

 

Review over 7000 paper and TIFF images, interpret and capture the required attributes for key equipment and reference points:  mains, tracer wire boxes, drips, pipe casings, dimensions, test tubes, valves, services, right of ways and structures.

  • Fully converted and Georeferenced maps

  • Added all necessary equipment dimensions and buildings shown on raster images

  • Using GIS layers with the correct feature classes, created and edited key equipment and reference points

  • Used supplied GPS coordinates to geographically place features in correct locations  

  • Geographically aligned features using dimensions identified on operating maps, aerial photography, tax maps, and regulator station drawings.

  • Updated customer attachments to edited or replaced main

  • Fully converted corrosion data from corrosion maps and existing cathodic protection points

  • Updated and Added Records:

    • 100,000 Distribution mains & 2,500 Transmission mains

    • 11,600 Valves, 20,000 Tracer Wire Boxes, 1700 Drips
