Routing Analysis

When alternative routes were necessary to minimize construction costs, ICS provided essential research and mapping.

It is a well known fact that the end result of any project, whether rooted in technical acumen, the communications arena, or physical construction is only as strong as the planning and design elements injected at the beginning of the process. ICS brings highly skilled personnel with a deep reservoir of FEED experience to this critical planning stage, setting your organization up for the highest chance of success for any and all of your projects.

Project Details

Tasked with researching alternative underground routes using existing structures in order to minimize new construction costs, ICS delivered detailed routing analysis that provided critical support of the ongoing operation and maintenance of underground pilot/circuit networks.

ICS researched and analyzed potential routes utilizing:

  • Client’s historical detail drawings.
  • Maps (Underground Raster and GIS/SmartMap).
  • Asset management records (SAP).

Not only did ICS propose routes, we identified possible barriers and offered potential solutions. The areas of concern included:

  • Need for new construction – due to lack of available conduits.
  • Conduit condition –  due to age and material.
  • Size of conduit vs. size of cable.
  • Proximity to existing pilot cables.

ICS provided both detailed electronic files as well as traditional hardcopies of proposed route(s) from station to station through existing structures, using empty conduits and the most direct route available to enhance route efficiency while injecting construction cost savings .  The deliverable package included detailed areas of concern with solutions to mitigate the issues identified.  ICS offered continued support for the client after the initial proposed routes were field checked and the upgraded routing package was certified to requirements.
